It's amazing what 235 people can do when they put their minds to it

Just this past Saturday at Jarrett-Gordon Ford in Winter Haven, the Winter Haven Rotary and a few hundred of their closest friends spent a few hours packaging meals for the hungry. How many? How does 52,000 plus grab you. This project, funded by the Winter Haven Rotary through its fundraisers and other donations, will be helping local soup kitchens, elementary schools and service organizations, including the First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven, Street Angels, Deep Roots Fellowship, the Mission, the Salvation Army, Denison Middle School, Wahneta Elementary School and Snively Elementary School. Around 75 members of the Rotary Club were on hand to guide the efforts of over 150 Community volunteers, including Rotary Sponsored service clubs such as Interact (Winter Haven and Lake Region High Schools) and YouthAct (Denison Middle School. Kara Phelps of The News Chief wrote a great article and you can read it here. There are some great photos by George Acycrigg as well, so check it out. We will be posting a video here soon so you can see what the event was like but in the meantime enjoy these photos.

Visiting the Winter Wonderland

I got to spend a few days up in Western North Carolina last weekend and see how they handled the latest "Storm of the Century". Not so bad it seems, but we did see fields covered with snow that had not been covered that deep in many years. It warmed above freezing, it rained, but still the snow stayed, with more on the way.

But since a picture is worth a thousand words, here are a few so you can see what it was like.
